CAPACITY offers free, self-paced courses designed to help RNs strengthen knowledge and skills to practice to the full scope of license in
community-based primary care settings

This module focuses on the lifestyle changes that can help prevent and treat hypertension. This includes implementation of a healthy diet, a more active lifestyle, and the reduction of alcohol and tobacco products. Please see our Pharmacologic Treatment module for information on treating hypertension with medication.

Objectives

After completing this module, you will be able to describe lifestyle interventions for the treatment of hypertension, including:

  • Correcting for dietary aberrations
  • Promoting physical activity
  • Reducing excessive consumption of alcohol
