CAPACITY offers free, self-paced courses designed to help RNs strengthen knowledge and skills to practice to the full scope of license in community-based primary care settings.

The ability to understand and control our own emotions, while understanding the emotions of others enables us to improve how we communicate. In fact, individuals practicing self-leadership realize they must first strengthen their emotional intelligence (EI) skills before any kind of communication can be effective. This module will challenge how you see yourself as a leader that can positively impact relationships. It will also show you how you can improve the effectiveness of your communication through a mindset of self-awareness.

Objectives

  • Examine emotional intelligence and its relevance to leadership skills
  • Describe the attributes of effective leadership communication

  • Explain the benefits leaders derive when combining emotional intelligence with effective communication
  • Reflect upon personal strengths and growth opportunities in areas of emotional intelligence and effective communication
