CAPACITY offers free, self-paced courses designed to help RNs strengthen knowledge and skills to practice to the full scope of license in community-based primary care settings.
This module is intended to provide a very basic look at models of payment in the ambulatory care setting. United States healthcare financing is a complicated system, and this module offers only an overview of the different ways in which patients in the ambulatory care system may be able to pay for their care. The role of the RN can be important in this setting, both for patient advocacy and providing visibility for the profession.
Objectives
After completing this module, you will be able to:
- Understand the common payment models in the US, third party payers, and the importance of payment source in ambulatory care
- Recognize the impact of payment models on patient care and nursing visibility in ambulatory care settings
